Hey folks!
A new year is upon us and we’re excited to jump right back into all things game dev, including community connection. This month we’re back at Mission to Seafarers Victoria this Tuesday 14th for a much gentler meetup - and best of all, it’s free! Please still register below to attend.
It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect after the holiday period (congrats if you feel rested), especially if you haven’t yet secured a team for the Global Game Jam at the end of this month.
Game playtests will return to meetups from next month, and the 2025 signup form will be shared in the coming weeks. Don’t worry if you’ve used last year’s since November, we’ll reach out soon!
PS. If you’re looking for more local jam-style events, check out the end of this post.

Tickets for Melbourne Global Game Jam 2025 are still available until Monday 20th January. Grab yours through EventHost and join 200 game developers locally, and thousands globally for 48 hours of collaborative game development from the 24th - 26th January.
Again a huge thank you to our sponsors SAE, City of Port Phillip and FMOD for helping us run Global Game Jam in 2025! Your ticket includes catered meals from Friday night through Sunday lunch, as well as on-site PCs and Macs provided by SAE for you to use for the jam.
We have plenty of desks for those of you who would like to bring your own laptop or PC. We also have a limited number of online-only tickets available. We really want to encourage people to attend in-person, especially newcomers to GGJ, as it is a much more collaborative and social experience.
If you need an online-only ticket for health reasons and there’s no more publicly available, please email us and we’ll give you an unlock code for an online ticket.

Melbourne GGJ is a huge logistical effort, and we’re still looking for volunteers to assist in running a safe and engaging game jam. Duties can include:
Jammer registration
Food service handling
Running logistical errands
Escalating safety issues to the organisers
Event space setup and pack down
If you’re interested in volunteering at GGJ rather than jamming, please fill in our Expression of Interest form linked below. Your help is greatly appreciated!
